Welcome to Mapas Sonoros' Best 40 Tracks of 2024—a lovingly curated list showcasing the sounds that defined our year. If you’ve been following us, you know we’re obsessed with Latin music—around 70-80% of what we cover comes straight from the vibrant heart of Latin America. But hey, we keep 20-30% open for global sonic gems because, well, good music doesn’t care about borders.
Before you dive in, a quick heads-up: this isn’t some ranked, countdown-style piece. Though that format might be more exciting and filled with suspense, we’re not here to assign scores or medals. Think of this as a year-end mixtape, arranged alphabetically for your listening pleasure.
You’ll find no track reviews here either—many of these tunes were already celebrated on our New Music Vaults. However, rest assured that our upcoming Bonus Tracks piece (Dec 20) will definitely bring some tailor-made footnotes on each and every one of the songs listed.
